Dr. Sandau received his medical and dental degrees from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University Hospital in Newark, Hackensack University Medical Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. He has also completed a six-year M.D. integrated residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at New Jersey Dental School and the University Hospital where he also served as the Administrative Chief Resident.
Dr. Sandau’s clinical experience includes the treatment of children and adults with complex oral infections, jaw cysts and tumors, traumatic injuries and fractures of the face and jaws, the correction of dentofacial deformities and malocclusion with orthognathic surgery, and Open TMJ surgery. He has also volunteered on a mission to Chaudanga, Bangladesh in conjunction with Healing the Children – Northeast to treat over forty children afflicted with burn injuries and congenital deformities such as cleft lip and palate. Furthermore, Dr. Sandau has also performed microsurgery to treat trigeminal nerve injuries.
Dr. Sandau’s special interests includes routine and complicated exodontia with or without IV sedation and/or General anesthesia, and reconstructive surgery with bone grafting and dental implants for which he has presented at the North Eastern Implant Symposium, and minimally invasive facial cosmetic surgery including the use of Botox, Restylane, Juvederm and facial chemical peels.
